In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Court Buddy began hosting free monthly virtual Legal Meet-Ups to help people get advice from real lawyers on pressing legal topics. The Meet-Ups are run in a panel format, mediated by Court Buddy’s Chief Legal Officer Jennifer McGlone who asks the panelists questions submitted by you, our Court Buddy users.

The next Court Buddy Legal Meet-Up will be held via zoom on June 26th  at 1:00p.m. PT/4:00 p.m. ET. You can sign up to ask a question on our website or by calling us at 866-653-3017.

Nyasha West will join Court Buddy’s June Meet-Up to answer questions about residential landlord-tenant and debt-related concerns.

After graduating from Howard University School of Law, West has spent more than a decade providing legal services to residents of Maryland and the Washington D.C. area. She primarily focuses her practice on ensuring people are able to maintain their rights and specializes in Bankruptcy, Personal Injury and Landlord-Tenant issues.

Notably, West provides pro bono representation to tenants facing eviction. She particularly enjoys volunteering at landlord-tenant courts in Baltimore City and representing individuals and small businesses who are in need. West says, "It's my pleasure to serve the community by helping people, who are economically deprived or underrepresented, stay in their homes.”

In advance of the Meet-Up, West encourages tenants to become more informed about their legal rights and the obligations of their landlords.

As COVID-19 federal moratorium on evictions expires at the end of July, West also encourages tenants in Maryland to reach out to landlords to establish payment arrangements and do research to ensure that their landlords are licensed and not inappropriately applying fees.

If you would like to learn more from West, the June Meet-Up will be held via zoom on June 26th at 1:00p.m. PT/4:00 p.m. ET. You can sign up to ask a question on our website or by calling us at 866-653-3017.
